Blind Equalization with the Lattice Constant Modulus Algorithm

Abstract

This paper presents an evaluation of the performance of the lattice constant modulus algorithm (LCMA) in blind channel equalization. The convergence performance of LCMA is compared to that of its transversal counterpart in equalizing the distortion of four progressively more stressing f-mite impulse response channels for 8-PSK and 16-QAM signals. The results indicate that while the convergence behavior of both algorithms depends strongly on the transmitted constellation, LCMA exhibits superior performance for 16-QAM as the spectral dynamic range of the channel increases.
