Assembly of a Prototype Neural Analog Computer. Phase 1

Abstract

The research during Phase I had three major objectives. The first aim was the assembly of a small prototype neural computer and its interface with a digital host computer. It should be emphasized that because of its limited size the Phase I prototype was not designed for practical applications. Instead it was intended as a platform for checking the basic design concept as well as function of the individual components. The second objective was the development of minimal software for connection routing, setting of neuron parameters, synaptic gains and time constants and control of the A/D conversion. A third objective was the functional evaluation of this system through performance of small computational tasks.
