Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP). Data Codebook. Version 1.0

Abstract

The Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) Data Codebook was created to permit optimal use of occupational injury and illness claim data available from OWCP. These data, along with others, will be used by the Naval Health Research Center to develop the Mishap Cost-Reduction and Quality Assessment Model as part of the Navy Occupational Safety and Health Program. Although OWCP provides record layout information and limited record field information for the data it provides, no comprehensive codebook is available. This codebook provides information on the OWCP data system and a primary OWCP database - the summary chargeback records - along with a data tape layout and a data dictionary with code translation tables.
