Research in Image Understanding

Abstract

We undertook a broad program for research into image understanding techniques suited for a variety of applications. We divided our tasks into three major categories. However, we wish to emphasize that the different tasks are highly interelated and share many common techniques. The major task areas over the course of this contract were three-dimensional vision including descriptions from range data, shape inference from images, and object recognition; motion analysis and parallel processing. This report discusses the status of the various individual research projects funded by this contract. Computer vision, Image analysis, Three-dimensional descriptions, Motion estimation, Mobile robot.
