A Study on How to Implement an Effective Marketing and Education Program for Coordinated Care

Abstract

The Department of Defense is committed to introducing managed care to the military health care system via the Coordinated Care Program. The Army Medical Department has taken the lead in the Department of Defense through the implementation of its Gateway to Care program. These programs represent a radical departure from the military health care system of the past and the manner in which they are implemented may well determine the future of military medicine. This study describes the process involved in developing a health care marketing plan at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. It identifies opportunities available to Fitzsimons and provides an action plan to accomplish the established marketing objectives. Upon the completion of the marketing action plan, the process for the approval and monitoring functions is discussed. Marketing and education, Gateway to care, Coordinated care.
