Design Features and Operational Characteristics of the Langley Pilot Transonic Cryogenic Tunnel

Abstract

A theoretical investigation by Smelt in 1945 indicated that the use of air at cryogenic temperatures would permit larged reductions of wind-tunnel size and power requirements in comparision with a wind tunnel operated at normal tmeperature.
