Wastewater Characterization Survey, Hayward Air National Guard Station (ANGS), California

Abstract

A wastewater characterization survey was conducted at Hayward ANGS, California, from 29 March - 7 April 1993 by personnel from the Water Quality Branch of Armstrong Laboratory. The purpose of the survey was to identify and characterize the wastewater, analyze sediments from oil/water separators for hazardous waste characteristics, and perform dye studies at the Vehicle Maintenance Battery shop and washrack. During the period of the survey, the station's discharge to the city of Hayward had significant levels of chloroform and 1,4-dichlorobenzene. With the exception of chloroform and 1,4- dichlorobenzene, all quantifiable levels of pollutants discharged to the city of Hayward were below the maximum discharge requirements. Wastewater Characterization, Hayward ANGS, California chloroform, 1,4-Dichlorobenzene, Oil and grease, Metals, Biochemical oxygen demand, Chemical oxygen demand.
