155-MM Artillery Rearm Module 2, Unicharge. Phase 2.

Abstract

A summary of the design, fabrication and tests for an improved 155mm Artillery Rearm Module, Unicharge (ARM II/Uni) is presented. This module is an improvement over a 155mm ARM fabricated and tested under previous contract (DAAA21-88-C-0161). The design and fabrication effort involving building a unit that automatically handled and transported projectiles and bare (unpackaged) XM230 unicharges for artillery rearm. Included was the automatic identification of projectiles and fuzes. The testing of the unit included a safety/human factors evaluation at Aberdeen Proving Ground and a technology demonstration feasibility test with soldiers from the Field Artillery at Ft. Sill, OK.
