The Mexican Military Approaches the 21st Century: Coping with a New World Order

Abstract

The author's discussion of the roles and missions of the Mexican forces has special salience in this era of 'alternative missions.' Since the U. S. Army has had to deal with the same missions of civic action and counternarcotics, this study provides a timely and instructive lesson on how the Mexican military has wrestled with these challenges.
