Qualification of M256 Breechblock Repair Procedure

Abstract

A more engineered approach was taken to qualify an M256 breechblock weld repair procedure. The approach consisted of identifying the principal areas requiring weld repair, identifying a weld procedure and material, preparing weld repair specimens, and accumulating a shock and vibration history similar to that expected in service.
