Defense Environmental Cleanup Program Annual Report to Congress for Fiscal Year 1993.

Abstract

The Department of Defense (DoD) is pleased to provide the Congress with this report on the progress and accomplishments of the Defense Environmental Cleanup Program for fiscal year (FY) 1993, a year of transition and renewed focus on cleanup. By elevating the position responsible for DoD environmental programs to a Deputy Under Secretary, the Department has given a clear signal of its commitment to environment security, ensuring greater opportunity for implementing sound and innovative environmental policies. Such policies are designed to confront environmental threats to our economy and our national security. The Administration strongly believes the two areas are interdependent for without a strong economy, our nation's element of our environmental security and therefore our national security
