Standard Simulator Data Base (SSDB) Interchange Format (SIF) Design Standard

Abstract

The purpose of this standard is to define the Standard Simulator Data Base (SSDB) Interchange Format (SIF). The Standard Simulator Data Base (SSDB) is the central repository of validated simulator databases for the DoD training simulation community. The SIF will serve as an input/output vehicle for sharing digital simulator databases via the SSDB. Database builders may be tasked to supply their databases to the SDBF in this format. The SDBF would then be responsible for integrating the databases into the SSDB, from which data may later be extracted for use by other simulator systems, in either SIF or Generic Transformed Data Base (GTDB) format. This will allow the Government to re-use databases created for specific simulation programs. This standard defines two different versions of SIF, in order to support two different scenarios for sharing of SSDB data
