Studies of Light Scattering at an Angle of Zero Degrees
Abstract
Using a new technique based on the fanning of a coherent light beam in a photorefractive BaTiO3 crystal, the angular distribution of forward light scattering by quartz fibers of radii from 15 microns to 30 microns has been measured. Data have been obtained over the angular range 0.0 deg to 0.3 deg , and are in good agreement with theory. Beam fanning and two beam coupling techniques have been compared for this application.
