Proceedings of the Workshop, Exploring the Opportunities for Cooperative Research for Scientists and Technical Managers from the Former Soviet Union and the U.S. Department of Defense Held in Orlando, Florida on April 8 - 9, 1994.

Abstract

The technical focus of this workshop emphasized wave propagation in random media, including aerosol and turbulence effects on electromagnetic (and acoustic) propagation at wavelengths ranging from ultraviolet to microwave. Applications of this discipline are numerous, including such varied subjects as prediction, simulation and mitigation of atmospheric effects on EO and MMW sensors, remote sensing of atmospheric parameters by acoustic and electromagnetic techniques, atmospheric degradation of laser and MMW systems, and more. Tangent technical areas briefly discussed included adaptive optics, optical processing techniques, and laser physics.
