Tutorial For the NATO Ada Programming Support Environment (APSE).

Abstract

NATO established a Special Working Group (SWG) to study, in part, the benefits that would result in applying a common interface technology to an Ada Programming Support Environment (APSE). Participating member nations contributed Ada software development tools or other support software which was integrated into a common framework represented as an implementation of the Common APSE Interface Set (CAIS). This paper presents a comprehensive introductory guide illustrated with numerous examples on using the NATO SWG APSE. This tutorial document is organized into five sections: getting started with the APSE, the CAIS, and the Command Language Interpreter; an introduction to editing, compiling and linking, debugging and version control; example use on a hypothetical project; use of the tools with the target computer; and introduction to some advance features of the tools.
