Forecasting Submodule in the Corporate Information Management (CIM) Requirements System.

Abstract

The Joint Logistics Services Center (JLSC) is tasked to implement standard wholesale inventory management systems throughout the Department of Defense. The primary purpose is to eliminate duplicate systems, and systems management, while increasing inventory management efficiencies. This goal encompasses many area of wholesale logistics systems. One of these areas is demand forecasting. The JLSC standard selected for implementation is based on the Navy developed Statistical Demand Forecasting (SDF) system. This report focuses on issues relating to five SDF mathematical models and their applicability to DLA. Specifically, the five models cover the following topical areas: demand forecasts, leadtime forecasts, demand variance, leadtime variance, and leadtime demand variance. Forecasting, Bayesian composite forecasting, Procurement lead time, Leadtime variance, Leadtime demand variance, Demand variance.
