Further Development and Field of Testing of a SOFAR Float System for Future Arctic Ocean Measurements

Abstract

This contract funded a collaborative effort to deploy SOFAR floats in the Arctic Ocean to develop the capability of making Lagrangian measurements under sea ice. This involved the design and manufacture of floats that operated at both 80 and 260 Hz and drifting listening stations that receive the float signals and transmit their arrival times to shore using ARGOS.
