An X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) Study of Activated Carbons Impregnated with some Organocopper Complexes,

Abstract

Five organocopper complexes were impregnated on an activated carbon surface, and the surface composition of the resulting impregnated carbon investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). From surface composition, and the high-resolution C(1s) and Cu(2p(3/2)) XPS spectra, the ratios of O/Cu, N/Cu, F/Cu and C/Cu could be calculated. It was found that three of the complexes were either unstable or decomposed on the carbon surface.
