Franchise Plan. Central Archive for Reusable Defense Software (CARDS)

Abstract

The Central Archive for Reusable Defense Software (CARDS) Franchise Plan is a tool to help management, with assistance from CARDS, develop a detailed, tailored implementation plan which will prepare the organization to begin the process of software reuse. The CARDS Franchise Plan is targeted toward management level personnel and is meant to introduce reuse and obtain assistance from programs such as CARDS to do reuse. The Franchise Plan presents a planning processes for building a reuse infrastructure. To establish a reuse infrastructure the Franchise Plan will describe the steps that need to be accomplished: (1) Establish management commitment for reuse (2) Develop: - An Organizational Assessment which defines an organization's current state of affairs, and assesses its potential for reuse; - A Requirement/Implementation Study which determines the organization's requirements for instituting reuse; and - A Reuse Implementation Plan which describes those steps necessary to implement a reuse infrastructure.
