Decision Support System (DSS) for Heavy Brigade Prepositioned (PREPO) afloat Operations Planning. User's Manual

Abstract

This document is a User's Manual to accompany the Decision Support System (DSS) developed to assist planning heavy brigade prepositioned (PREPO) afloat operations. The DSS utilizes a critical path methodology (CPM) to estimate the duration of PREPO operations from the alert phase through the theater reception/onward movement phase. The DSS contains a sequence of tasks to be completed by the off-load preparation party (OPP), advance party, transportation group, and main body during PREPO operations. The DSS can be used as a training checklist or as a planning tool. The DSS allows the user to alter the data (e.g., change sequencing of tasks, change task times, add tasks, etc.) to accommodate various contingencies. This User's Manual provides step-by-step instructions for using the DSS and should be read before starting the DSS. PREPO, PREPO Afloat, Heavy Brigade, Decision Support System, User's Manual
