Additives in Bituminous Materials and Fuel-Resistant Sealers

Abstract

This report provides a matrix of information on the current state-of- the-art of commercially available additives for bituminous materials and fuel- resistant sealers. Included in this report is a brief history of these types of additives, the results of an airport field survey, descriptions of seven airport site visits, and detailed discussions of a series of laboratory tests used to physically and chemically characterize these additives. A literature search was conducted throughout the study in order to provide the latest information on each reported additive. The information gained from the literature search, field survey, site visits, and laboratory analyses was used to develop an additives database containing informative profiles of each additive. The database is presented in hard copy as an appendix of this report, and is also presented in a user-friendly computerized database as a supplement to this report. Additives, Modifiers, Asphalt, Pavements, Bituminous materials, Seal coat, Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Fuel-resistance.
