Global Wave Statistics for Structural Design Assessments

Abstract

Operational areas of interest to the U.S. Navy are dictated by the maritime strategy and have in recent years included Southern Hemisphere and littoral regions. This report is intended to aid in ship design by listing the seasonal distribution of significant wave height and modal wave period data for global open ocean and littoral regions. A short description of the 4 idealized formulations and their applications is also presented.
