Analysis of Historical Oceanographic Data on a Personal Computer. Program MDS.

Abstract

Program MDS uses an IBM-compatible personal computer to process and analyze temperature, salinity, and sound speed data in three formats: two-dimensional plots, histograms, and statistical computation and/or correlations. The data, extracted from the MOODS files maintained by the Naval Oceanographic Office, require prior reformatting to regional files for meaningful analysis. Graphic and printer output of these analyses provides valuable input needed to determine oceanic and acoustic properties of a desired area.
