Digital Mapping Charting and Geodesy Analysis Program Technical Review Vector Product Format (VPF).

Abstract

The Vector Product Format has been instrumental in providing the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) with a standard format in which to store port and effectively maintain vector databases. As with practically any standard however, current advances necessitate changes. NRL's Digital Mapping, Charting, and Geodesy Analysis Program (DMAP) has been given the opportunity to suggest changes which would enhance the Navy's use of VPF. DMAP's comments range from specific essential/suggested changes to more broad issues of data quality and topology. Suggested figures are given to clarify sections of text. (MM)
