Financial Management: DoD Faces Implementation Problems in Stock Funding Repairable Inventory Items.

Abstract

All three services are working to develop or improve their capability to stock fund repairables. However, until they can accurately track the return of items from customers to the stock fund and bill customers, they will not achieve the full benefits of this initiative. In addition, accurate data and reliable systems are needed to develop budgets for repairable items, evaluate the success of stock funding repairables, and support other department-wide initiatives, such as DBOF. For these reasons, it is critical that the DOD Comptroller actively monitor the services' efforts to correct their system wealmesses.
