Colorado Air Quality Data Report.
Abstract
The purpose of this report is to present the air quality monitoring data generated by the Colorado Division in 1984, and to provide a historical perspective from which the significance of that data can be interpreted. Air quality monitoring measures the concentrations of various pollutants (undesirable gases and particles) in the air. The monitoring is designed to address federal and state requirements to determine pollutant concentrations related both to National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and pollutants for which standards may be anticipated. Primary standards are intended to protect public health. Secondary standards are intended to protect public welfare. The current NAAQS are presented in Table 1-1. Pollutant concentrations that are higher than the standards are considered unhealthful. Concentrations below the standards are considered acceptable. -BKA
