Defining the Relevant Common Picture.

Abstract

This paper describes efforts by the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Analysis Center (ThAC) to define the Relevant Common Picture in support of the Battle Command Battle Lab (BCBL). One BCBL goal was to develop and deliver a relevant common picture of the battlefield for the division warfighting commander. The focus of the efforts was Advanced Warfighting Experiments (AWE) (completed in 1994), focused on identifying information requirements and potential components of the Battle Command Support System (BCSS). An earlier effort, Division Commander's Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) study (completed in 1985), which focused strictly on identifying CCIR, was also used.
