Operation Desert Storm: Transportation and Distribution of Equipment and Supplies in Southwest Asia.

Abstract

This GAO report reviews the Department of Defense capabilities to move and distribute military equipment and supplies during Operation Desert Storm. Specifically, the logistics capabilities of the Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force were reviewed. Analyzed were the abilities to: (1) unload equipment and supplies at seaports and airport facilities; (2) store and retrieve assets; (3) transport supplies and equipment to forward deployed logistic bases and units; and (4) provide security at ports of entry, in warehouses, and during surface transportation of assets.
