Stapleton International Airport, Ground Water Monitoring, Southern Tier of Rocky Mountain Arsenal 1985-1986.

Abstract

Proposed expansion plans for Stapleton Airport involve the construction of a new temporary east-west runway located on the southern tier (Sections 7, 8, 11, 12) of RMA. The purpose of this investigation was to provide a summary of the alluvial ground water monitoring beneath the project site and to further identify any potential ground water problems in the vacinity of the selected runway alignment. The study included monitoring 61 new and existing wells monthly for one year and bimonthly the next year. This data provided the basis for the conclusions and recommendations. The potential effect of future suburban and commercial development on the alluvial ground water system underlying the project sit is also addressed.
