Modified Basin F Closure Plan.

Abstract

In May, 1986, the Colorado Dept . Of Health Proposed a Partial Basin F Closure Plan that would have required the expeditious removal of the liquids, solids, and overburden to an off-post waste disposal facility. Substantial comments were received from the army, including a proposal for on-post interim storage of the Basin F wastes prior to final treatment and construction of an interim ground water treatment system. This modified closure plan now incorporates the army's proposal and allows for storage of the liquid wastes in on-post tanks and solid wastes in an on-post waste pile prior to final treatment and disposal. All hazardous wastes from the Basin must be finally treated and/or disposed of within five years of the effective data of the final closure plan. The plan is divided into the following sections: (1) Interim remedial actions; (2) treatment and final disposal; (3) Monitoring and maintenance during closure.
