Inverted Echo Sounder Observations During the Kuroshio Extension Regional Experiment.

Abstract

Sea surface height anomalies measured by inverted echo sounders with pressure gauges (IES/PGs) were made in the vicinity of the Kuroshio Extension, near 35 deg N, 143 deg E, as part of the Kuroshio Extension Regional Experiment (KERE). These instruments provide information concerning the height of the sea surface as well as information concerning movement of mesoscale features in the KERE area. The moorings were deployed from July 1992 through June 1994. This report describes the ES/PG data and supporting ship XBT measurements. (MM)
