Virtual Interfaces: Research and Application (Les Interfaces Virtuelles entre Recherche et Applications).
Abstract
Recent advances in technologies for information display and sensing of human movements, combined with computer based models of natural and artificial environments, have led to the introduction of so-called virtual interfaces. Virtual interfaces offer increased flexibility and naturalness, so are considered for use in several domains including aviation, training, design, simulation. Papers presented at this symposium considered issues of research and application in virtual interfaces broadly defined. Issues of technology integration for system development were considered separately from issues of movement monitoring or sensory display. Issues of human performance measurement were presented in the context of both research and application.
