SLAD: A Success Story in Reengineering the Acquisition Process.

Abstract

The situation with respect to Survivability/Lethality Analysis in the U.S. Army prior to 1992 is described. Significant problems with that situation are enumerated. The formation of the Survivability/Lethality Analysis Directorate (SLAD) is exhibited not only as a solution to those problems, but as a more general examplar of a success in reengineering the acquisition process.
