The Operational Artist as Creative Artist.

Abstract

The military must reconcile a severe contradiction between an officer's conformist military training of the past and the need to develop creative operational artists for the future. Military training is conformist and a function of a convergent thought process. The operational artist needs to be a non-conformist capable of divergent thinking. Scrutiny of the creative process provides insight.
