Design and Development of the Paperless Classroom.

Abstract

The Paperless Classroom project explored the use of advanced technology to design, develop, and demonstrate an interface to large amounts of technical information available in electronic form. Instructional materials and graphics were successfully authored and presented as electronic "books." Hypertext principles allowed for improved data retrieval by the instructor and students. Teaching was enhanced by the ability to display and zoom in on graphics as well as to display the images on student workstations. A new instructional environment was created by networking an instructor workstation with 12 student workstations. A prototype system was field-tested at the AEGIS Training Center, Dahlgren, VA. The objective of this report is to document the design and development of the Paperless Classroom system. (SGML)
