Synthesis, Characterization and Explosive Properties of 3,5-Dinitro-2,4,6-Triaminopyridine and Its 1-Oxide.

Abstract

3,5-Dinitro-2,4,6-triaminopyridine was prepared by oxidative amination of 2-chloro-3,5- dinitropyridine or 2,6-diamino-3,5-dinitropyridine, or by treatment of the latter compound with hydroxylamine. 3,5-Dinitro-2,4,6-triaminopyridine-1 -oxide was prepared by oxidation of the parent heterocycle with hydrogen peroxide, or by treatment of 2,6-diamino-3,5-dinitropyridine-1 - oxide with hydroxylamine. This compound features intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonding which results in high density, thermal stability, and insensitivity to impact. jg p.3
