Abstract

The Ballistic Research Laboratory (BRL) now part of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) was created to conduct research in the field of ballistics and in related areas of technology as applied to U.S. Army weapon systems. Volumes I and II of Ballisticians in War and Peace1 describe the BRL's program from its nascent days during World War I, through the formal creation of the BRL in 1938, through World War II, and on through 1976.
