Experiment on a Free-Electron Laser with a Tapered Wiggler and Analysis of Results,

Abstract

Experiments on a Raman FEL with a tapered field have been done. A maximum radiation output of 31MW at 8 to 10.4mm has been obtained with an energy efficiency of 9.68%. The tapering technique is effective in increasing the efficiency in the Raman FEL for large current and low energy electron beam.
