Ultra-High Modulus Organic Fiber Hybrid Composites.

Abstract

An experimental high modulus organic fiber, designated for the purposes of this contract as Fiber D, has been characterized, and its performance as a reinforcement for composites has been investigated. The fiber has a modulus of 172 GPa (249,000,000 ), tensile strength of 3.14 GPa (456 ksi) and density of l.463 gm/cu cm.
