Development of an Automated Methodology Balancing Avionics and LCC. Phase I.

Abstract

This is the final report of a phase I exploratory development. It results in a conceptual design for a computerized methodology using Excel spreadsheet software and a Windows graphical user interface. The methodology will produce LCC estimates, comparisons, Pareto analyses and sensitivity studies for use in balancing avionics requirements and LCC. The methodology developed considers the impact of design alternatives, acquisition stretch-outs, quantity reductions, technology insertions, P3I, and the use of commonality, modularity, multifunctionality and COTS hardware and software in avionics LCC. It uses defaults for non-critical factors; makes Help screens available to aid inputting, and provides mini-tutorials for application clarification.
