An Analytical Solution for the Unsteady Flow of a Bingham Plastic Fluid In a Circular Tube.

Abstract

This report describes a closed form solution of the axial velocity profile and the shear stress profile for a Bingham plastic fluid in a circular tube. The analysis simulates the commencement of flow resulting from a pressure gradient. Past numerical and analytical solutions are shown to be deficient in the early stages of the flow when they are compared with the closed form solution presented here.
