Development of an LSTAT Venilator.

Abstract

There is a critical need for a small, portable device to provide ventilatory support to critically-ill battlefield casualties. The goal of this work is to develop a prototype ventilator suitable for incorporation into the LSTAT unit. In this time period the initial research and design phase has been completed, and an initial prototype fabricated. This prototype has successfully demonstrated the feasibility of this concept. Contacts have been initiated and working relationships established with other contributors to the LSTAT project, so that all components may be optimized for final incorporation into the finished unit. Work is continuing to refine the design and to implement servo control.
