Research, Development, Training, and Evaluation (RDT&E) Support: Operability Model Architecture.

Abstract

The Operator Model Architecture (OMAR) project undertook the definition, implementation, test, and validation of an integrated suite of software tools to support the construction of Human Performance Process (HPP) models and the instantiation of the psychological framework previously developed by Bolt, Beranek, and Newman, Inc. (BBN). The project was undertaken in three phases. The objective of Phase 1 was to prepare a Software Functional Specification for the toolbox architecture. The Specification drew on analyses of requirements both to build and to support the testing of computational cognitive models, and on the anticipated requirement to operate within the OASYS simulation environment. During Phase 2, the software design and tools specified in Phase 1 were developed using a rapid prototying approach. Tests demonstrating the flinctionality of OMAR were conducted near the end of the phase, and an OMAR User's/Programmer's manual was written. In Phase 3, elements of the BBN psychological framework previously developed were instantiated with the aid of the OMAR tools developed in Phase 2, and an Air Traffic Control scenario identified during the earlier effort was used to test the resulting model.
