Correlations for the Fracture of Composite Materials,

Abstract

A number of existing theories for both the notched and unnotched strength of fibre composite materials are discussed. These are compared with a large body of existing data which is presented in the form of 'master plots'. These plots show the similarity of behavior of carbon, glass and Kevlar laminates of a variety of constructions, and also identify two distinct failure regimes.
