Application of Lightweight Composite Materials to Naval Weapons Systems.

Abstract

The objective uf the present program is to conduct a comprehensive study of the possibility that composite materials can be applied to Naval weapons systems. The particular system addressed in this study is a weapons elevator door. Specific attention is given to (a) weight savings, (b) structural design, (c) shipboard requirements, and (d) component testing.
