The Mechanisms of Pyrolysis, Oxidation, and Burning of Organic Materials. Materials Research Symposium (4th) Held in Gaithersburg, Maryland on October 26 - 29, 1970.

Abstract

A symposium on The Mechanisms of Pyrolysis, Oxidation, and Burning of Organic Materials was held at the National Bureau of Standards in October 1970. This volume contains the nineteen papers presented and much of the discussion which followed. These papers review and discuss the current status of kinetic studies on the reactions of organic materials in both gas and condensed phases. The topics covered include: pyrolysis of hydrocarbons, pyrolysis of polymers, oxidation of polymers, oxidation of organic compounds, burning of organic compounds and burning of polymers. Particular emphasis is placed on the elucidation of the mechanisms of reaction in terms of free radicals or other transient species and physical effects. jg p4
