The five installations were chosen as representative for DoD installations--Ft. Sill, OK; Ft. Gordon, GA; Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA; Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, CA; an Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, CA. Overall results of this survey were that collections are deteriorating, and collections centers have not and do not receive the financial support necessary for adequate preservation of archaeological collections.
