Angular-Contact Ball Bearing Optimization Study.

Abstract

Ongoing studies have indicated that advanced engines will be required to operate at higher temperatures and increased rotor speeds. The object of this project was to find the optimum internal geometry for a high speed, hybrid thrust bearing, which produces minimum heat generation. The development of advanced bearing designs will significantly increase turbine engine operational capabilities.
