Training Program in the Molecular Basis of Breast Cancer Research.

Abstract

The objective of this program is to establish at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio an in-depth training program in the Molecular Genetics of Breast Cancer. The most important goal of the program is to train highly qualified pre-doctoral students in the genetic, cellular, and molecular basis of Breast Cancer. It is our hope that with the background in Breast Cancer Biology that these students have obtained, they will complete their studies and provide the momentum and scientific expertise for significant discoveries in this field in the future. The program has a number of major strengths. These include the high quality of the Program Faculty, the interactive nature of the Breast Cancer research community in San Antonio. The Training Program in the Molecular Genetics of Breast Cancer has been extremely successful in attracting high quality pre-doctoral students. This progress report reviews these accomplishments.
