Military Whistleblower Protection,

Abstract

This Directive reissues DoD Directive 7050.6 dated September 3, 1992, to updated policy and responsibilities for military whistleblower protection under Section 1034 of Title 10, USC; include complaints of sexual harassment or unlawful discrimination as 'protected communications'; expand the scope of persons and activities to whom a protected communication may be made, to include any person or organization (including any person or organization in the chain of command) designated under Component regulations or other established administrative procedures to receive such communications; include referral for mental health evaluations under DoD Directive 6490.1 as a 'personnel action.'
